I am not a cologne person, except for the occasional spritz for a night out once and a while, but I'm currently on the market for a new scent that I can splash on for spring/summer. When it comes to fragrance I like it as light as possible so I've done some investigating and testing. Here are my top choices for crisp and fresh colognes!
YSL L'Homme Intense
This is the heaviest of my choices. I normally wouldn't like something this rich in amber tones but I liked that it has some citrus, white floral, and woodiness notes.
Main notes of bergamot (a citrusy fruit similar to an orange) and pink pepper (a dried berry, it's not actually pepper). It's a tiny bit spicy with hints of nutmeg and cardamom, which I normally wouldn't like, but it was really balanced.
Prada Luna Rossa
Main notes of orange essence, lavender absolute, and clary sage (a herbaceous perennial), The fragrance is a bit 'sporty' if that is something you are after.
Hugo Boss Natural Spray
This cologne was one of the first ones I smelled while on the hunt and I thought it would be the front runner until I kept sampling. It has a distinct apple note with hints of cinnamon, geranium, and a woodiness.
Main notes of mango, silver armoise (a bitter sweet smell), and patchouli noir (patchouli is an herb in the mint family). It's super fresh smelling with tropical and sweet notes.
My top three choices were hard to rank as they are the closest to what I'm looking for but Lacoste White gets my vote! The cologne is floral, woody, clean, and crisp. With notes of grapefruit, cardamom, rosemary, and cedarwood this cologne is the perfect combination of light and fresh!
