Rodial recently launched in Canada and I had the chance to play with a lot of the collection. I was really curious about the eye makeup products so I recruited some volunteers to try them out on! Check out the below for my thoughts and how to get a smokey eye using Rodial makeup!
My favorite from all the products was the Rodial Eye Sculpt ($36). It has a rich and creamy mousse texture. It applies well with a small shadow brush which I found more ideal than using a finger because it smooths out the edges for a softer look. It also works great on an angled brush for a soft eyeliner or under the eye for a super smokey look. It can also be used to fill in eyebrows which makes it a great multipurpose product. The color is a deep brown so it would only work for those with a darker eyebrow.
The Rodial Smokey eye Pen ($21) is a rich brown color that almost has a thick gel like feel. It applies really smooth and blends out well with an eye liner brush. A note to keep in mind that when you sharpen it make sure the blade of the sharpener is sharp/new so it won't break or pull the tip of the product.
Rodial Instaglam Magic Pen ($28) is a luminous pearl white color that adds brightness to the inner corner of the eye, under the brow, and areas like the center of the nose, and on top of the cupid's bow. The only thing I don't love about it is the size of the pencil which is a bit chubby, not a standard pencil size. I noticed when you apply it to small areas like the inner corner of the eye the tip is a bit wide so it can leave too much product or leave small clumps that you have to blend in after. The color is nice though and if applied lightly the result is soft glow.
Rodial Instaglam Glow ($36) has a brush applicator that applies a gorgeous sheer luminescent tone with a touch of warm gold colour that looks amazing on the high points of the cheekbone. For a cheek highlighter I much prefer a pink or golden color. I find it creates more of a healthy natural glow as opposed to something white and shimmery (which I find can look cheap). I was really impressed with the color of Instaglam Glow.
Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL ($29) comes in black. The simple brush makes it easy to apply evenly and the formula is nice. Would I recommend it if someone asked? I'm not sure, it works well but it's comparable to some drug store brands that are cheaper. If you like a really small and narrow wand, the line does have a skinny version called Glamolash Skinny.
Rodial is available at Murale in Canada.
Here are three looks that were created by using Rodial's line.
Smokey Eye - Day Time/Medium Impact:
Rodial Eye Sculpt used all over the mobile lid and under the eye along the lash line. I started lightly and built up to get a desired amount of brown around the eyes.
Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in brown used to line the upper lash line.
Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL used on both the upper and lower lashes.
Rodial Instaglam Magic Pen used in the inner corner of the eye and a little on the bridge of the nose between the eyes.
Smokey Eye - Night Time/High Impact:
Rodial Eye Sculpt used all over the mobile lid, in the eye crease, and under the eye along the lash line. I went heavier on product on the outside of the eye and blended it really well in the eye crease so it was extra smokey.
Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in brown used to line the upper lash line and used on the lower lash line and water line.
Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL used on both the upper and lower lashes. 2 coats.
Rodial Instaglam Magic Pen used in the inner corner of the eye, along the inner lash line, and a little down the bridge of the nose.
Rodial Instagram Glow used above the cheekbone.
